Ainel González Arjona

Violinist from Havana, Cuba, Ainel studied at Instituto Superior de Arte and currently lives in Basel, Switzerland.

Alexander García Barrera “El Vivo”

Born into a musical family which includes the great Cuban singer Roberto Faz, El Vivo has played with a number of Cuban acts and ensembles including Muzo y su Gran Sonora, director Rolando “El Muzo” Montero; Conjunto Caribeño; Andy Gola y Colé Colé; Jelengue; Conexión Salsera; “El Macry” Luis Frank; and Roberto Blanco among others. Currently, El Vivo works with Banda Termidor, the Timba Records session band in addition to the Buena Vista Social Club sequel group, Soneros de Verdad.

Carlos Alvárez Guerra “Afrocán”

Born Carlos Luis Álvarez Guerra, April 8th 1950 in Trinidad, Santi Spíritus, Cuba, Afrocan’s musical career began at an early age with local groups in Trinidad like Banda Juvenil Lico Jiménez directed by Nelson Oney Peña and Grupo Folklórico founder Amador Ramírez. He studied at the Escuela Nacional D’Arte during which time he worked with a variety of ensembles including famed troubadour Isabel Bécquer y Su Combo, Raíces Nuevas director Pucho López  and others. In 1988 he was called on by the legendary Afro-Cuban jazz group Irakere, where he remained until 1991. From there he played with the who’s who of contemporary Cuban music including Pachito Alonso, Klimax director Giraldo Piloto, Cubanismo director Jesus Alemany and Orquesta del ICRT. Currently, Carlos works with Habana D’Primera director Alexander Abreu and is highly sought after as a session studio musician in La Habana.
